Organize your library
Choose one of four views from the top toolbar:
- Details: a game list on the left and information about the selected game on the right, with the game's background art.
- Grid: covers with the status below each image; selecting a game opens the side panel.
- List: one row per game with platform, library, playtime, ratings and achievements.
- Kanban: one column per status. Dragging a game to another column changes its status.
Switching views closes the side panel while keeping the selected game highlighted. To play from the couch with a controller, use fullscreen.
Covers
Every cover in the application, in the library views, the side panel and fullscreen, uses the same upright 3:4 frame, as in Playnite. The art fills the frame: a cover with a different shape loses a little of its edges, with no stretching or blurred filler. Grid cards align at the top; the status strip stays directly below the cover, and long titles and statuses can wrap.
A placeholder appears in the same frame while a cover loads, when no cover is available or if the image fails to load. See metadata for where covers come from.
Search and filter
Search ignores differences in case and accents. Filters opens the panel on the right. You can combine statuses, platforms, playtime, ratings and other criteria.
Favorites and Recent are independent of status. Recent covers the last 30 days. Genre, developer, publisher and release filters depend on available metadata.
Statuses and ratings
In Settings → Statuses, create, rename, reorder or delete statuses. When deleting a status that has games, choose where to move those games. Automatic rules determine the status for newly added games and for their first session.
From a game's More menu:
- Add or remove its favorite mark.
- Use Rate game… for a star rating and difficulty in peppers, from half to five.
- Use Write review… for your own text.
- Choose or remove the background video and the theme music (see below).
- Download metadata or show the ROM in Explorer.
Background video and theme music
In Details view, a game's background can be a video, played silently on a loop. It comes from the automatic trailer (see metadata) or from your own MP4 or WebM, chosen with More → Choose background video…; Playtrove keeps its own copy and never touches the original file. With Windows' reduced motion setting, the video starts paused.
Each game can also have theme music, played offline on a loop in all four library views. Use More → Choose theme music… for your own MP3, M4A or WAV, or let Playtrove find one automatically with the metadata. Playback and volume are in Settings → General, and the music pauses when the window loses focus or a game is running.
In version 1.0.0, the view and filters are not remembered when you reopen the application.
